Where you are starting from
Current weight, intake, appetite and any nutrition risks that need attention before treatment starts.
DietXP Onco Care
One adult nutrition consultation during cancer treatment or recovery.
The one-off service includes an online consultation, a written diet plan and an explanation call.
This consultation supports the care you already receive. It does not replace your oncologist or treating team.
Cancer treatment can change appetite, taste, swallowing, digestion and energy needs. General advice may conflict with the treating team’s instructions or may not reflect the food prepared at home.
This consultation reviews the adult patient’s nutrition needs and prepares a written plan within the service scope. It does not replace the oncologist, hospital dietitian or treating team.
Choose the stage closest to the adult patient’s current situation to review the relevant scope.
The consultation focuses on the nutrition questions most relevant to the adult patient’s current treatment stage. It does not cover every item below in every appointment.
Nutrition risk is worth identifying early, while there is still time to act on it.
Current weight, intake, appetite and any nutrition risks that need attention before treatment starts.
Food and fluid strategies that follow the pre-treatment goals and instructions supplied by the treating team.
Where you are at nutritional risk, what to focus on in the weeks before an operation, planned around your surgical team’s plan rather than separately from it.
Food and fluid support for nutrition-impact symptoms during treatment.
Practical food and fluid options based on current intake and the instructions from the treating team.
Food and fluid strategies for symptoms that make eating difficult. New, severe or worsening symptoms require medical review.
Help applying the feeding plan prescribed by the treating team, including day-to-day routines, records and questions to take back. Formula, route, rate, equipment and clinical changes remain with that team.
Nutrition-impact symptoms discussed
Treatment ending is not the same as being back to normal.
Food strategies that support intake and function after treatment, including appropriate discussion of weight changes with the treating team.
When care focuses on comfort
This section explains the consultation boundary when the treating team is providing palliative or end-of-life care.
Food support follows comfort, preferences and the goals set with the palliative-care team. DietXP does not make clinical feeding decisions.
DietXP can discuss practical food routines at home. Decisions about clinically assisted nutrition and hydration stay with the patient, family and treating or palliative-care team.
For questions about this consultation, contact us on WhatsApp. Clinical questions and urgent concerns should go to the treating or palliative-care team.
15 to 30 minutes online with an oncology nutrition professional, depending on how complex your case is. Send your reports beforehand if you have them.
A written diet plan based on the diagnosis, treatment stage, nutrition-impact symptoms, preferences, culture and budget, within the service scope.
A short call with the same nutrition professional to explain the plan and answer questions about using it.
One consultation, one written plan and one explanation call.
How you are matched
Cancer nutrition needs differ by diagnosis, treatment stage and feeding method. An adult using a feeding tube after head and neck surgery and an adult rebuilding function after treatment need different experience. We review the situation and match it to the team member best placed to support it.
Matched to your case
Diagnosis, treatment stage, nutrition-impact symptoms and feeding support inform the proposed match.
Oncology, not general nutrition
The match is made from team members with documented hospital oncology and nutrition-support experience.
The same nutrition professional throughout
The person who consults with you is the person who writes your plan and the person who explains it on the call.
Hospital backgrounds across our clinical team include Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital (Mumbai), Kasturba Hospital at MAHE Manipal, CMCH Ludhiana and Jigme Dorji Wangchuk National Referral Hospital (Bhutan), spanning oncology, paediatric oncology, enteral and parenteral nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
