WHY INDIAN CUTOFFS?

South Asians accumulate visceral fat at lower body weight, raising cardiometabolic risk at BMI ≥23 vs ≥25 in Western populations. Using global WHO cutoffs alone underestimates risk in Indians.

Category WHO Global Indian

Obese II+ ≥35 ≥32.5
