IBS care in India

IBS and Indian food, region by region

Indian gastroenterologists published national consensus statements on IBS in 2023. Food varies hugely across India, from wheat-based meals in the north to rice-based meals in the south, so any food plan has to fit your region and kitchen.

Food across India

Indian food is not one diet. We plan for your region and routine, whether that means roti and sabzi, rice and sambar, fish curry or poha.

Low FODMAP in an Indian kitchen

Wheat, onion, garlic, rajma, chana and many dals are high in FODMAPs, and most compounded hing (asafoetida) contains wheat flour. If your doctor advises a low-FODMAP trial, we plan swaps and reintroduction around your family’s meals.

Fasts, festivals and eating out

Navratri and Ramzan fasts, weddings, festival sweets and restaurant meals are part of life. Your plan covers these days too, not only meals at home.

Alongside your doctor in India

In India you can see a physician or gastroenterologist directly, without a referral. Bring their advice and reports, and your food plan will follow them.

Getting ready

What to have ready for your IBS consultation

You do not need to send reports before booking. We tell you how to share them before your consultation.

  • Your doctor’s diagnosis and any advice about food
  • Recent reports your doctor ordered, such as blood or stool tests
  • A simple diary of meals and symptoms for one or two weeks, if you can
  • Your medicines and supplements, including anything for acidity or constipation
  • What you eat on a usual day, including tea, snacks and eating out

IBS consultation: your questions answered

Do I need an IBS diagnosis first?

This support is for adults with diagnosed IBS. If symptoms are new, unexplained or changing, see a doctor first rather than assuming they are IBS.

How much does the IBS consultation cost?

₹2,950, including 18% GST (₹2,500 + ₹450 GST). It covers the consultation, your written IBS food plan and a short call to explain it. Nothing else is added when you pay.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer (NEFT, RTGS or IMPS) or UPI, after we confirm your booking in writing. We send the payment details on WhatsApp or by email.

When will I get my written plan?

Within 2 working days of your consultation. A short call with Maria follows to explain the plan and answer your questions.

Which languages can I use?

English, Hindi or Kannada, with Maria. Tell us which you prefer when you message us.

Is the consultation online?

Yes. The consultation and the explanation call are both online. We agree the call format and the time with you when we confirm your booking.

Will I have to stop eating Indian food?

Not automatically. The conversation starts with your usual meals and individual tolerance. We can explore practical alternatives without assuming an entire cuisine is unsuitable.

Is low-FODMAP part of every plan?

No. It is not necessary or suitable for everyone. If your doctor advises it, we help you plan Indian swaps, a short trial and the reintroduction of foods, so it does not become a long list of banned foods.

Can the plan promise symptom relief?

No specific outcome is guaranteed. Symptoms can have several influences, and food changes that help one person may not help another. Your medical care remains important.

Can my family join?

Yes. The person who cooks or helps with meals is welcome on both calls. If you are contacting us for someone else, please let them know. We ask for their agreement before we discuss their health.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can book directly. Please bring your latest reports and your doctor’s advice to the consultation, so the food plan fits your treatment.

What happens after the explanation call?

Your consultation is complete. Follow-up consultations are not included. If you would like more support later, message us and we will explain the options and the fee before you book.

Your doctor stays in charge

Speak to your doctor about new, severe, persistent or worsening digestive symptoms. Do not use a food plan to delay medical assessment or stop prescribed medicines.

In an emergency call 112, or 108 for an ambulance in most states.
